Investment Policy & Design Documents

The DCIIA Investment Policy & Design (IP&D) Committee provides a forum to encourage and promote research, dialogue, education, thought leadership and best practices related to the design and implementation of effective DC plan investment options with a special focus on qualified default investment alternatives (QDIAs). The committee was established in accordance with DCIIA’s founding charter and core beliefs. It brings together a diverse group of industry professionals, including: investment managers, insurance companies, consultants, record keeping and trust companies, plan sponsors, law firms, academia and others focused on improving outcomes for American workers by advocating the application of sound policies and solutions.

Mission

The IP&D Committee serves a central role in DCIIA’s broader mission of bringing best practices in institutional investment management to defined contribution retirement plans. The committee has a dual objective of developing practical “how-to” materials for plan sponsors, which at the same time can educate public policy makers on investment-related matters.

  • Create materials fostering the adoption of best practices by plan sponsors.
  • Serve as a clearinghouse for case studies on implementing innovative solutions.
  • Promote the cost-effectiveness and the benefits of flexibility of institutional investment approaches often found in defined benefit.
  • Provide technical support on investment issues for other DCIIA committees especially in the areas of benchmarking, communications and public policy.
